Congratulations to 2000 Trees Festival on winning a Greener Festival Award

"2000 Trees is a great small festival surrounded by gorgeous countryside and the organisers work hard to keep the festival clean tidy and fun. The Maker Green Team pop up everywhere In their noble crusade to leave no recyclable uncollected and the relaxed friendly crowd seem to make the effort to tidy up after themselves which is a refreshing change. Looking around the floor it is hard to spot any litter and many revellers feel safe to wander barefoot through the site (which was a bit muddy this year!). The organisers are enthusiastic about their efforts to be an eco-friendly gathering and it is inspiring to see many stalls handed over to local suppliers and to organisations promoting environmental messages".

Kit & Tess after 2000 Trees Festival 2008

After the hustle & bustle of the summer months it's all quiet once more here at Scum central. An election campaign has started with two candidates standing for our 'Chairperson role'. Mr Simon Dansie & Mr Iain Seggar have come forward, so now it's a straight two horse race. A proxy email vote system has been created for those members un-able to attend November's AGM in Plymouth. With effect The Maker Green Team have joined the Facebook Social Network site with a special Maker Green Team Group formed here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=28972357375 to facilitate this poll.

On the events front, we have received new interest from two established festivals in Wales in 2009. This is welcome now, as the earlier festival organisers speak with us the better provision and planning we can make  towards events for 2009. I can also confirm that the team have been asked to facilitate next summers 2000 Trees Festival in Gloucestershire.
For those who don't know, the Maker Sunshine Festival organisers Pete & Loobs are taking a year out in 2009, this will mean no festival next summer in South East Cornwall. That said there may be a series of 'smaller events planned' by Maker Events Ltd at Maker Heights over the summer months despite their decision.

Too strengthen the skill base within the Corum structure, six new 'Maker Green Team Guardians' (The Uncle Bulgaria Group) have been approached to advise and develop our organisation for future years. These people hold particular skills and links within 'social business' recycling concerns, a former (retired) trans-national regional executive, a national & community media professional and a UK law advice advocate. We also have one further local authority proffessional on board.

Finally, if you are planning a local community 'not for profit event' in 2009 now's the time to talk & work with us to get your event funded in terms of recycling waste budgets! We are here to facilitate events of this nature and support your festival through our Constitution. Do please get in touch before the clock ticks out! Our next event is the Election & AGM on Saturday 29th November at Plymouth Scrapstore at 1pm.

A great weekend..... Nailstock 2007!
