Volunteer induction meeting at the Waveform Project, Devon, September 2007.
The Maker Green Team is a unique UK based volunteer constituted 'not for profit' community events recycling organisation. Currently we receive zero funding from public or private trust bodies. Our operations are totally dependent on the good will and private funding from our membership & third party festival organisations.
News: June 2008 The Maker Green Team scumbusted the cancelled Sunrise Celebration site despite major access issues caused by the flooding and the clay mud surface. We had 110 volunteers on site on Wednesday 28th May but this number dropped to less than 30 persons by Friday morning. Operation Sunrise had to be abandoned as there was no rota and we instantly switched from pre festival to post festival. This caused difficulties as crew, traders and the 1000 odd attendees totaling 4500 persons left loads of waste for our small skeleton team to deal with. We estimate we had over 25 tons of contaminated waste to deal with by Monday morning. By Sunday 8th June the bulk of the site had been cleared however the arena area was still un-accessible and waste had been driven over and had set hard into the churned up ground. We finally finished on Wednesday 11th of June and departed Bearley Farm for Maker Heights for a couple of days R & R there. A big thank you to Ian of the Sunrise crew for assisting us with the tractor and trailer driving and our skeleton crew that remained to tackle the environmental disaster that became Sunrise Celebration 2008.
Stodge's Beford MK 4x4 finally stuck in the abandoned crew field at Sunrise Celebration 2008.
Sunbird of Earth Heart Productions commented on our dedicated clear up of Bearley Farm ''Thank you all, you are becoming some sort of recycling phenomena!'

2000 Trees Festival
Gloucestershire, UK, 11th,12th July 2008
"I have to add a note about the environmental aspect of the festival …the stage electrics were run by generators using bio-diesel…the rubbish was looked after by an organisation called the Maker Green Team, with recycling bins all over the festival site this was the cleanest and greenest festival/gig site I’ve ever seen! A sign of how things should always be"!This extract is from the 2000 Trees Festival review 2007 in 'Bristol Rocks' By Claire Robinson twothousandtreesfest

Maker Sunshine Festival
**** IMPORTANT NEW INFORMATION *** Here at Maker Events we are very conscious of the effects of the current credit crunch, fuel prices, rising costs etc and want to make a positive contribution to making the Maker Sunshine Festival affordable to families and groups with young people. To this end we have decided to allow all young people 15 and under into the festival for free.
YOUNG PEOPLE 5 - 15 GO FREE
The Festival
The Festival is organised by Maker Events, a small family run business dedicated to working with our community to create environmental and family friendly gatherings.Maker Sunshine Festival is a family friendly event over four days on the beautiful Rame Peninsula of South east Cornwall. The festival boasts an impressive line-up of over 70 bands of Regional National and International acclaim playing over the 5 Maker Stages (see line-up link)New for this year is the Cabaret Tent (see link)There is always plenty on offer for young people of all ages with creative and fun workshops from music making to pottery throwing and from circus skills to bush craft with all the variety in between. The bars are well stocked and offer a mouth watering selection of Real Ales from across the region and this year as part of our beer festival we are proud to announce the start up of Maker’s own micro brewery ‘The Forgotten Corner Brewery’. The new Maker brews have already been thoroughly sampled and will take pride of place amongst the dozens of brews on offer all weekend. We are conscious at Maker of the growing credit crisis, fuel costs and general increase in the cost of living and want to send a positive message of support to our regular Maker Festival friends and those who have heard about our special gathering in this unique location and want to try it for the first time….KIDS GO FREE!!!
Yes we are offering free tickets for all young people under 16 years of age. As parents ourselves we know how tight things are at the moment so don’t let the cost of your children’s tickets get in the way of coming to Maker – just pay for the adults in your group and for every full paying adult you can bring up to 3 under 16’s absolutely free.We have priced the youth ticket for 16 yr olds at just £50 and the adult rate is £80 for the full four days weekend camping.Day tickets are available on the gate priced at just £10 for Thursday and £15 per day for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There is so much to see and do here at Maker and if you fancy a trip off site we are a short walk from the villages of Millbrook where you can get the best fish and chips in the county or down to the twin fishing villages of Kingsand and Cawsand which have their own beaches and a great selection of pubs and cafes. The campsite is open throughout the summer so if you want to stay on for a few days (and you will!) that’s ok too.See you soonPete and Loobs(Organisers)
